Sandstone, in Anglo-Saxon speaking countries. A world apart, a particular climbing style, playgrounds for the trans, but often narrowly sporty. It is certainly a vertical world with a great tradition, among other things transverse to different geographical areas, from countries of Eastern Europe, with their short climbs on very distant towers and protections, up to to England. Not to mention the wonders of South Africa, to which we have deliberately dedicated a very large space in this issue, through the texts and photographs of one of the leading experts in the area, Tony Lourens.

However, our journey began in Italy, and basically from bouldering led by Alberto Milani and many others, among Pietra del Toro and Poggio Umbricchio, to mention two names quickly; and then continue towards the legendary Fontainebleau, where the magic of sandstone will be revealed to us Jacky Godoffe in person.
